Settlement of EPF physical claims without Aadhaar seeding for certain classes of members

The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation, vide circular no. WSU/2020/Claim settlement without UAN-clarification/8726, dated 29th November 2024, has allowed certain classes of members to submit their claims to the EPFO in physical form, in case they do not possess aadhaar, and consequently, have not seeded it with UAN.

Following are the classes of members who are given the exemption as mentioned:

  1. International Workers who have already left India after completing their assignments without obtaining Aadhaar.
  2. Indian Workers who permanently migrated to a foreign country and subsequently obtained their citizenship without having Aadhaar.
  3. Citizens of Nepal and Subjects of Bhutan who fall within the definition of employee and work for and are on the rolls of an establishment covered under the EPF & MP Act but do not reside in India and consequently do not possess Adhaar.

Though UAN has to be necessarily generated for the above members in case they do not already possess a UAN, the requirement of seeding Adhaar with UAN is dispensed due to their inability to get Adhaar.

The above-mentioned circular also contains the details of the substituted ID for Adhaar, which should accompany the claim form along with other relevant documents, including Bank account details.
