Exemption from maximum working hours for IT/ITEs and Financial services

The Government of Gujarat vide notification no. GHR/2024/19/LED/TGS/e-file/11/2023/2453/M.3, dated 5^thFebruary, 2024, has exempted establishments of IT-related services, IT-enabled services and financial services from the provisions of sections 12 and 14 of the Gujarat Shops and Establishments (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Act, 2019, for a period two years from the date of issue of the notification. Section 12 speaks about daily and weekly maximum working hours allowed. Section 14 speaks about per day spread over hours allowed.

The said exemption is subject to fulfilment of other provisions of the said Act, such as payment of twice the rate of wages for working extra hours, provision for weekly holidays etc.
