Election Holiday – Kerala – April 2026

The General Election to the Kerala Legislative Assembly 2026 is set to take place on 9th April 2026 (Thursday). In this context, the Government of Kerala, vide G.O.(Rt)No.1462/2026/GAD, dated 21st March 2026, has announced a paid holiday for all eligible employees employed in commercial enterprises and other private institutions within the state.
This holiday will also be applicable in accordance with section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881.
Moreover, there may be instances where an individual, who is a regular resident of the Constituency and registered as an elector, is employed in an industrial establishment or undertaking situated outside the Constituency during the general election. It is clarified that in such cases, even those electors, including casual workers employed outside the relevant constituency, will be entitled to this paid holiday.
