Election holiday for Factories

The General Election to the Legislative Assembly of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir is scheduled to be held in three phases: on 18^th September 2024, 25^thSeptember 2024, and 1^st October 2024. The General Election to the Legislative Assembly of Haryana is scheduled to be held on 5^th October 2024.

On account of the said elections, the Government of Punjab has released notification no. Labour-Lab0FAFR/2/2024-2L/929146, dated 17^th September 2024, regarding granting of holiday to the employees working in factories in Punjab on account of the General Election to the Legislative Assembly of Haryana, and Jammu and Kashmir.

The notification has exempted workers working in registered factories situated in the State of Punjab and are enrolled as voters in the state of Haryana, and the UT of Jammu and Kashmir, from the operations of provisions of sub-section 1 of Section 52 of the Factories Act, 1948 (which speaks about weekly holiday), on scheduled polling dates.
