Applicability of Sikkim Shops and Commercial Establishments Act, 1983

The Government of Sikkim, vide notification no. 11/LD/2025, dated 6th December 2025, has granted an exemption to all shops and commercial establishments that employ twenty (20) or fewer employees from the provisions of the Sikkim Shops and Commercial Establishments Act, 1983. However, such exempted shops or commercial establishments are required to notify the Labour Department of their establishment details using Form “I” within three (3) months from the date of commencement.
