Simplification of Provident Fund account transfer

The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation, vide circular no. WSU/Transfer of Claims/E-52972/2024-25/005, dated 15th January 2025, has laid down a simplified procedure for the transfer of Provident Fund accumulations from the past account to the present account.
As per the existing process, employees are required to transfer the Provident Fund accumulations from their past account to their present employer by submitting an online transfer application, either through their past or present employer.
The above procedure has been dispensed by the EPFO and a simplified procedure is laid down. As per the new procedure, employer attestation is not required for the transfer of EPF accumulations, specifically with respect to the following transfer cases:
- Transfers between Member IDs linked with the same UAN, where the UAN was allotted on or after 01/10/2017 and linked with Aadhaar.
- Transfers between Member IDs linked with different UANs, where such UANs were allotted on or after 01/10/2017 and linked with the same Aadhaar.
- Transfers between Member IDs linked with the same UAN, where the UAN was allotted before 01/10/2017, is linked with Aadhaar, and the name, date of birth (DOB), and gender are identical across the Member IDs.
- Transfers between Member IDs linked with different UANs, where at least one of the UANs was allotted before 01/10/2017, is linked with the same Aadhaar, and the name, DOB, and gender are identical across the Member IDs.
