Update on the new Labour Codes pertaining to ESI compliance

The Regional Office of Employees’ State Insurance Corporation, Marol, Mumbai, has issued a notification regarding the implementation of the Code on Social Security, 2020. Vide notification dated 3rd December 2025, the Employees State Insurance Corporation has directed all educational and medical establishments exempted by the State Government from the provisions of the Employees State Insurance Act, 1948, to register under the ESI scheme, with effect from 21st November 2025, consequent to the implementation of the Code on Social Security, 2020.
The ESIC has directed unregistered education/medical institutions to immediately complete the online registration process under the Code through the “Shram Suvidha Portal” to generate the employer code for common compliance with all statutory provisions.
