The esteemed Governor of Rajasthan, through notification no. F.4(4)Vidhi/2/2025, dated 18th December 2025, has enacted the Rajasthan Shops and Commercial Establishments (Amendment) Ordinance, 2025, to amend further the Rajasthan Shops and Commercial Establishments Act of 1958. The key features of the amendment are as follows:
- The minimum age for apprenticeship or employment has been raised from twelve (12) years to fourteen (14) years.
- The maximum working hours per day have been extended to ten (10) hours from the previous nine (9) hours, with a weekly cap of forty-eight (48) hours.
- The maximum overtime allowed per quarter has been increased from fifty (50) hours to one hundred and forty-four (144) hours.
- The continuous working hours without a break have been raised to six (6) hours from five (5) hours.
