Promotional campaign by EPFO on Facial Authentication Technology (FAT) for submission of Digital Life Certificates

The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation, vide circular no. Pension/FAT-Publicity/2023/3417, dated 11^th July 2024, has instructed all its field offices to take necessary actions in promoting the campaign on Facial Authentication Technology (FAT) for submission of Digital Life Certificates by the beneficiaries.

Member/beneficiary who is drawing pension under the Employees’ Pension Scheme, 1995, has to submit a Life Certificate annually in order to continue receiving monthly pension. The life certificate has to be submitted to the concerned authority, such as the pension disbursement bank, common service centre, Indian Post Office, nearest EPFO, etc. It is necessary to provide proof of the pensioner being alive to get the monthly pension.

Now, EPFO has also requested the pension disbursement banks to facilitate the beneficiaries’ submission of the life certificate through Facial Authentication Technology. EPFO is also planning to send SMSs to the beneficiaries and to the employers regarding the facility of submission of the life certificate through Face Authentication.
