Permission to operate Shops and Establishments 365 days a year

The Government of Punjab, vide notification dated 15^th July 2024, has extended the permission granted to all Shops and Commercial Establishments registered under the Punjab Shops and Commercial Establishments Act, 1958, in the state of Punjab to operate 365 days a year. The permission has been extended for a further period of 1 year, i.e. up to 31^st May 2025, subject to certain conditions that are listed in the notification.

It is important to note that the employment of female employees in the night shift (8 PM to 7 AM) in any shops or commercial establishments in Punjab requires permission from the Labour Department and compliance with other conditions as specified in the notification from the Labour Department dated 3^rd March 2022.
