OTP required to login to the Commercial Taxes Department of Karnataka portal (e-Prerana)

The Commercial Taxes Department of Karnataka has introduced a mobile OTP requirement for accessing the e-Prerana portal. This system mandates that taxpayers provide a one-time password in addition to their username and password to enhance security for employers logging into the platform. The e-Prerana portal is essential for employers to remit their periodic Professional Tax (PT) as stipulated by the Karnataka Tax on Professions, Trades, Callings and Employment Act, 1976.

While logging into the portal, an OTP will be sent to the registered mobile number associated with the PT portal. After successfully verifying the OTP, employers will gain access to the portal for tax remittance and return filing.

If an employer no longer uses the registered mobile number, they must email the relevant PT Circle to update their contact information. Once the mobile number and email address are updated, the employer will be able to log in.
