Ministry of Labour & Employment Notifies Monthly Wage Threshold for Bonus Eligibility

The Ministry of Labour and Employment, vide notification no. S.O. 4711(E), dated 25th August 2026, has specified the wage threshold for eligibility to receive a statutory bonus, under Section 26(1) of the Code on Wages, 2019.
The notification provides that every employee drawing wages not exceeding ₹21,000 per month shall be entitled to a bonus in accordance with the provisions of Section 26(1) of the Code. This notification formally establishes the eligibility ceiling for bonus payments under the Code on Wages framework and ensures the continued applicability of statutory bonus benefits to employees earning wages up to the prescribed limit.
The notification has been given retrospective effect and is deemed to have come into force on 21st November 2025.
