Mandatory implementation of DBT for the disbursement of the Government share of stipend to apprentices

The Board of Practical Training – Eastern Region, vide letter no. BOPTER/DBT/2025, dated 12th June 2025, has informed all establishments in the Eastern and North Eastern regions of India, which are falling under the jurisdiction of the Board of Practical Training – Eastern Region (BOPTR), regarding the disbursement of Government’s share of stipend to apprentices registered under NATS, only through Direct Beneficiary Transfer (DBT). Accordingly, the Government’s share of stipend to apprentices will be transferred directly to their bank accounts, effective from the stipend payable for the month of July 2025.

Hence, applicable establishments are requested to take the following steps:

• Ensure all apprentices engaged in the establishment are registered on the NATS portal with accurate and complete bank account details, preferably Aadhaar-linked, to enable smooth DBT transactions.

• Verify and update apprentice records in coordination with the Apprenticeship Coordinators of establishments, especially regarding banking and Aadhaar details.

• Engage with the BOPT (Eastern Region) office for support in resolving any procedural or technical issues during the DBT implementation process.

• Do not include the Government share in the stipend amount disbursed to apprentices from July 2025 onwards, as reimbursement claims for the Government share will no longer be entertained.
