Haryana Election holiday for factories

The Government of Haryana, and the Labour Department, vide notification no. Elec-2024/FW/Hol-868, dated 3^rd April 2024, has given directions regarding granting a paid holiday for the employees from the neighbouring states working in factories in Haryana in order to enable them to cast their vote for the General election to Lok Sabha-2024 or Legislative Assembly of the state.

The notification has exempted all factories in Haryana from the operation of provisions of Sub-section (1) of Section 52 of the Factories Act, 1948 (which speaks about weekly holidays), for a week period as listed in the notification. This exemption is subject to the condition that no voters shall be required or allowed to work on the polling day of their respective state, in the state of Haryana.
