Exemption from Section 52 (1) (a) of The Factories Act, 1948 (Election Holiday)

Bye-Election to Legislative Assembly of 04-Badrinath & 33-Manglour of Uttarakhand, and 34-Jalandhar West (SC) of Punjab is scheduled to be held on 10th July 2024. In order to provide opportunity to the employees working in Factories to exercise their franchise, the Government of Haryana, vide notification no. FW/Election/2024/2398, dated 5th July 2024, has exempted all adult workers working in factories situated in the state of Haryana who have the right to vote for the said election, from the operations of provision of clause (a) of sub-section (1) of Section 52 of the Factories Act, 1948, for a week commencing from 7th July 2024 to 13th July 2024. This exemption is subject to a condition that no worker who has the right to vote for the said election shall be required or allowed to work on the polling day (i.e. 10th July 2024).
Section 52 (1) (a) of The Factories Act, 1948, speaks about the weekly holiday to be given to the adult workers in Factories.
