Exemption from registration under the S&E Act following registration under the OSHWC Code, 2020

The Government of Haryana, vide notification no. 02/26/2026-2Lab, dated 4th May 2026, has affirmed that there is no requirement for registration or notification of business commencement under the Shops and Commercial Establishments Act of 1958, provided that the provisions for registration under the Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code, 2020, are adhered to after the finalization of the Haryana Rules.

Additionally, it has been clarified that this exemption pertains solely to the registration or notification of business commencement. However, establishments must continue to comply with the other provisions of the Haryana Shops and Commercial Establishments Act, 1958, as long as they do not conflict with the Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code, 2020.
