Exemption from certain provisions of the Shops & Establishments Act

The Government of Telangana, vide notification no. G.O.Rt.No.383, dated 23rdSeptember 2025, has exempted all shops and establishments employing up to ten (10) employees from the applicability of certain provisions of the Telangana Shops and Establishments Act, 1988. The notification lists specific provisions applicable to shops and establishments employing up to ten (10) employees. Apart from the specified provisions, other provisions of the Act shall not be applicable to establishments with ten (10) or fewer employees. Some of the significant provisions which are applicable to shops and establishments employing up to ten (10) employees are as follows:
- Registration and renewal of registration of establishments
- Daily and weekly hours of work
- Spread over periods of work
- Closing and granting of holidays
- Intervals for rest
- Leave provisions
- Overtime wages
- Time of payment of wages
