EPFO Launches Employees’ Enrolment Campaign, 2026

The Ministry of Labour & Employment, through a press release dated 22^nd August 2026, announced that the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has launched the Employees’ Enrolment Campaign, 2026 (EEC 2026), effective from 29^th June 2026, to provide a one-time opportunity for employers to enrol eligible employees who remained outside the EPF coverage during the period from 1^st April 2009 to 31^st March 2026.

The campaign will remain open until 31^st October 2026, and aims to extend provident fund, pension, and insurance benefits to eligible workers while encouraging voluntary compliance by establishments. Employers may declare and enrol employees who were previously excluded from the EPF coverage, provided that such employees are alive and continue to be employed by the establishment on the date of declaration. The scheme also offers certain compliance relaxations, including a waiver of the employee’s share of contributions that were not deducted earlier, subject to prescribed conditions.

Employers are required to complete the enrolment process online by generating a Face Authentication-based Universal Account Number (UAN) through the UMANG App and remitting contributions through the Electronic Challan-cum-Return (ECR) system.

The EPFO is also undertaking awareness and outreach initiatives to promote the campaign among employers, employees, contractors, government departments, public sector undertakings, and other stakeholders, while encouraging establishments to utilise this one-time opportunity before the campaign closes.
