EPFO further simplifies the JD functionality to enable Aadhaar correction

The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation, vide circular no. WSU/MemberProfile/E-710137/2025-26/26, dated 13th August 2025, has further simplified the online Joint Declaration functionality to facilitate members who are yet to seed/verify Aadhaar or need to correct Aadhaar in their UAN.

In the said circular, the EPFO has clarified the following:

• In case of a mismatch in any of the fields of Name, Gender and Date of Birth between UAN and Aadhaar of the members, employers can file the request for rectification of the said fields through the joint declaration (JD) functionality.

• For Aadhaar correction, that is, cases where a wrong Aadhaar has been erroneously linked with the UAN, the employer can now enter the correct Aadhaar in the online Joint Declaration functionality and forward it to the RO concerned for approval.

The EPFO has also confirmed that, in case the employer is not available or the establishment is closed, the member can file the Joint Declaration manually, in the prescribed format attested by the prescribed authority. The list of authorities who are authorised to attest the Joint Declarations and the format of the Joint Declaration are provided along with the circular.
