EPFO extends the due date for filing ECR for the wage month of December 2025

The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation, via circular no. NDC/VEE4-Estt/1807/ECRFilling/2026/e-1239468, dated 15th January 2026, has extended the deadline for submitting the Electronic Challan-Cum-Return (ECR) for the wage month of December 2025.
The revised deadline for the ECR submission has been changed from 15thJanuary 2026 to 20th January 2026. This extension is a result of numerous representations made by employers and other stakeholders who have reported technical and operational challenges in filing returns for the wage month of December 2025. Furthermore, it has been clarified that no interest or penalties will be imposed on ECRs and payments made within the extended due date.
