EPFO clarification regarding payment of past contributions through DD

The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation, vide circular no. Compliance/DD/Remittances/M/sLabournet Services India Pvt Ltd/2025/2209, dated 4^th April 2025, has confirmed its field offices to accept the payment of past contributions made by employers via Demand Drafts as a one-time payment, subject to the following conditions:

• The officer in charge of the region is satisfied that such a request is for the one-time payment of past dues.

• An employer should not be seeking a mode other than internet banking for future remittances.

• An undertaking from the employer has to be obtained for verification of beneficiaries in case a claim arises.

• All the prescribed returns have to be obtained from the employer.

• The corresponding damages and interest payable by the employer should be determined in a timely manner and collected from the employer in the prescribed manner.
