Paid holiday on election polling dates

The Election Commission of India, vide notification no. 78/EPS/2024, dated 16th March 2024, had directed various state authorities to take necessary action towards granting a paid holiday to the employees on account of the General Election to Lok Sabha, 2024 and Bye-election to Assembly Constituencies of various states.
In pursuant to the above direction, the office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Karnataka, vide circular no. DPAR 09 CHULOSA 2024, dated 22nd March 2024, has directed the Secretary to the Government, the Labour Department Bengaluru, to take necessary action in granting paid holidays on the polling dates to all eligible employees working in various establishments, trade and industrial undertakings.
Polling in Karnataka will be held in two stages: 26th April 2024 and 7th May 2024.
