Criteria for recognition/renewal of laboratories for conducting medical examinations in Factories

The Government of Karnataka, vide notification no. LD 116 KABANI 2023, dated 2^nd January 2025, has notified the criteria for recognition or renewal of laboratories for conducting medical examinations of the workers employed in Factories registered under the Factories Act, 1948.

Under Section 41C of the Factories Act, 1948, every occupier of a factory involving any hazardous process shall provide for medical examination of every worker before such worker is assigned to a job involving the handling of, or working with, a hazardous substance, and while continuing in such job, and after he has ceased to work in such job, at intervals not exceeding 12 months, in such manner as may be prescribed.
