Benefits of the ESI Scheme expanded under the Code on Social Security, 2020 – Madhya Pradesh

The Ministry of Labour and Employment, through a Gazette Notification S.O. 5313(E) dated 28th September 2026, has notified 1st October 2026 as the effective date for the extension of Employees’ State Insurance (ESI) coverage to establishments in the Niwari district and the remaining areas of 24 partially implemented districts across Madhya Pradesh. From this date, employers and employees of covered establishments in districts including Agar Malwa, Alirajpur, Anuppur, Ashoknagar, Balaghat, Barwani, Betul, Chhatarpur, Damoh, Datia, Harda, Jhabua, Mandla, Narsinghpur, Panna, Rajgarh, Seoni, Sheopur, Shivpuri, Sidhi, Tikamgarh, Umaria, Vidisha, and Dindori will be required to make ESI contributions under the Code on Social Security, 2020.

With this implementation, eligible employees working in these areas will gain access to medical, sickness, maternity, disability and other social security benefits administered by the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC).
