Advisory to implement Work From Home policy – Delhi

The Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi, vide circular No. F.No.Lab/Addl.LC/Misc./2026/314, dated 14th May 2026, has issued an advisory to implement work from home policy across all private organisations operating within the geographical boundaries of the NCT of Delhi. This initiative is voluntary and has been requested by the government to conserve fuel and alleviate traffic congestion.

 Wherever feasible, all organisations are strongly urged to implement a minimum of two days of work from home each week for eligible employees whose job responsibilities allow for such arrangements.

Private sector organisations are further advised to:
· Implement staggered working hours to lessen peak hour vehicular traffic on the roads, where possible.

· Encourage and facilitate employees to utilise public transportation, car-pooling, or non-motorised commuting options.

· Transition physical meetings to virtual or online formats to minimise travel costs.

· Limit the use of official vehicles for non-essential travel.

· Ensure sufficient IT infrastructure support to facilitate seamless work-from-home operations.

 Employers are requested to raise awareness among their workforce regarding the national significance of fuel conservation during the ongoing crisis and to actively encourage employees to adopt fuel-efficient commuting practices.
