Permission to operate Shops and Commercial Establishments 24/7

The Government of Rajasthan, vide notification no. S.O.20, dated 19^th June 2026, has granted exemption to all registered Shops and Commercial establishments within the state from the limitations on opening and closing hours, as well as the requirement for a weekly closed day, allowing them to operate around the clock, 24/7. This exemption is contingent upon the following conditions:

1. The employer shall give one day’s paid weekly rest to all employees in rotation.

2. The working hours of employees shall not be more than ten hours per day and forty-eight hours in a week. In case extra work is availed from the employees, a record of the same shall be maintained separately by the employer.

3. If overtime work is availed from any employee, he/she shall be paid in accordance with the provisions of the law.

4. An appointment letter shall be given by the employer to all employees. A copy of such an appointment letter shall be sent to the Labour Inspector of the area concerned, and the acknowledgement shall be kept in the record by the employer.

5. Such exemption shall be subject to compliance with the above conditions and the orders issued by the State Government, from time to time.

6. In case of violation of any of the above conditions by the employer, the exemption shall be deemed to have been revoked automatically, and the employer shall be liable for legal action under the provisions of the Rajasthan Shops and Commercial Establishments Act and other relevant laws.
