Fire safety directives for the Thane district

The office of the District Collector and District Magistrate of Thane has issued stringent fire safety directives for the district. These directives are issued under the Disaster Management Act, 2005, and the Maharashtra Fire Prevention and Life Safety Measures Act, 2006, in response to multiple fire incidents that have occurred in Thane district in recent years.
These directives are applicable to the following categories of buildings, establishments, and premises:
• Government, semi-government, and public utility offices, as well as local self-government institutions and their office buildings.
• Residential buildings, housing societies, and apartment complexes.
• Educational institutions, including schools, colleges, training institutes, hostels, hospitals, nursing homes, and healthcare facilities.
• Hospitality and commercial venues such as hotels, lodges, restaurants, malls, market complexes, cinema halls, gyms, banks, warehouses, and other public spaces.
• Industrial establishments, factories, warehouses, chemical storage sites, and all other buildings and institutions intended for public use.
