EPFO has further postponed the deadline for submitting the ECR for the wage month of December 2025

Following the previous extension of the deadline for filing the Electronic Challan-Cum-Return (ECR) for the wage month of December 2025, the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation vide circular dated 22nd January 2026 has now extended this deadline by an additional 2 days, moving it from 20th January 2026 to 22nd January 2026.
EPFO has made it clear that no interest or penalties will be applied to ECRs and payments made within this extended deadline. However, it is important to note that if the ECR filing and payment occur after 22nd January 2026, the default will be assessed based on the original deadline of 15th January 2026.
