Conditions for employing women during night shifts in Shops & Establishments – Punjab

The Government of Punjab, through notification no. Labour-Lab0PSCA/2/2021/-5L/656, dated 28th November 2025, has permitted all Shops and Establishments registered under the Punjab Shops and Commercial Establishments Act of 1958 to employ women during night shifts, provided they obtain consent from the women and comply with the conditions outlined in the notification.
Shops and Establishments wishing to employ women during night shifts must submit an application to the relevant labour department, along with an undertaking to adhere to all the conditions specified in the notification.
Furthermore, it has been stressed that these new conditions will also apply to all Shops and Establishments that have previously received permission from the Government to employ women during night shifts.
