Permission for operating Shops and Commercial Establishments 24/7

The Government of the Union Territory of Chandigarh, vide notification no. 12/2/149-HII(2)2025/12994, dated 14th August 2025, had exempted all shops and commercial establishments in the state from the restriction of opening and closing hours, closing for a day in a week, and the restriction of employment of women during the night.
As per the notification, all shops and commercial establishments registered under the Punjab Shops and Commercial Establishments Act, 1958, and located in the Union Territory of Chandigarh, are now permitted to operate 24/7 and employ women during the night shift, subject to certain conditions stipulated in the notification.
