The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) recently implemented a two-factor authentication process for employers logging into the EPFO portal. This procedure requires the employer to enter a one-time password (OTP) sent to the mobile number registered with the EPFO in addition to their username and password.
AscentHR had circulated an alert regarding this change on August 17th, 2024.
In this regard, the EPFO has published a user manual that includes the following information:
- Steps to follow if the registered mobile number is unavailable, out of service, or lost.
- Guidelines for generating a request letter (Online) to obtain the establishment user ID and password in the event of losing the registered mobile number.
- Instructions for submitting the request letter to EPFO.
- Guidelines on how to update the existing mobile number after logging in.
For any additional inquiries, please get in touch with EPFO using the contact details provided in the notification.
