Enforcement of ESI provisions in certain parts of Manipur

The Central Government, vide notification no. S.O.2696(E), dated 10^th July 2024, will be implementing certain provisions of the Employees’ State Insurance Act, 1948, in all areas of Bishnupur, Senapati, Ukhrul, Kangpokpi, Churachandpur, and Thoubal districts in the state of Manipur, effective from 1^st August 2024.

This would mean that the above areas will have to comply with the provisions of the ESI Act from the above effective date. From an area perspective, this would be treated as ESIC coverage expansion. 

This is a welcome move as employees would have ESI benefits coverage for them as well as their family members.
