Election Holiday for Madurantakam and Dharapuram Assembly Bye-Elections

The Government of Tamil Nadu, through G.O. (Ms) No. 575, dated 18th September 2026, has declared 6th October 2026 (Tuesday) as a public holiday under Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881, in connection with the bye-election to the 35. Madurantakam (SC) and 101. Dharapuram (SC) Assembly Constituencies.
The holiday will apply to the areas falling within these constituencies in the Chengalpattu and Tiruppur districts. Additionally, employees working in Chengalpattu, Tiruppur, and neighbouring districts who are registered voters in the said constituencies shall be granted a paid holiday to exercise their franchise. All government offices, government-controlled establishments, and educational institutions located within the concerned constituencies will remain closed on the polling day.
