IT/ITES are temporarily allowed to operate 24/7

The Government of Andhra Pradesh, vide notification no. G.O.Ms. No-7, dated 25thMarch 2025, has exempted all IT and ITES companies operating in Andhra Pradesh from certain provisions of the Andhra Pradesh Shops and Establishments Act, 1988, for a period of five years, effective from 25th March 2025.
The exempted provisions are as follows:
Section 15: Restriction on opening and closing hours.
Section 16: Restriction of daily and weekly hours of work.
Section 21: Restriction on working hours for young people.
Section 23: Restriction on employing women during the night shift.
Section 31: Closing on national and festival holidays.
Sub section (1), (2), (3) and (4) of Section 47: Conditions for termination of employment and payment of service compensation.
The above exemption is subject to conditions listed in the notification. Upon fulfilling the conditions, IT/ITES companies in the state of Andhra Pradesh can work 24/7, and can employ women during the night shift.
