Increasingly, it is the everyday frustrations of navigating outdated workplace systems, fragmented processes, and administrative bottlenecks that are driving employees to disengage, according to global HR technology and workforce solutions provider AscentHR Inc.<\/p>\n<p>Subramanyam Sreenivasaiah, founder, director and chief executive officer of AscentHR, said burnout has evolved from excessive workloads into a broader organizational issue rooted in operational inefficiencies that quietly erode employee morale and productivity.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen employees have to battle disjointed platforms just to file leave, correct payroll errors, or request basic internal support, those daily frustrations accumulate. Instead, it reflects the combined impact of inefficient workflows, weak communication, inadequate leadership support, and outdated systems that slow employees down.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Workplace friction fuels burnout<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Organizations that rely on infrequent engagement surveys often detect dissatisfaction only after employees have decided to leave, resulting in higher recruitment costs, lost institutional knowledge, and weaker client relationships.<\/p>\n<p>Sreenivasaiah said the challenge is especially pronounced in the information technology and business process management (IT-BPM) sector, where automation has fundamentally changed frontline jobs<\/p>\n<p>Routine tasks have increasingly been automated, leaving employees to handle more complex responsibilities that demand higher-level problem-solving and digital skills.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe role may look the same on paper, but the cognitive demands have increased significantly. Without the right organizational support, stress levels inevitably rise,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The post-pandemic workplace has also reshaped employee expectations. Workers now expect organizations to respond with the same speed and flexibility they experience in their digital lives, making slow corporate systems an increasing source of frustration.<\/p>\n<p>Flexibility, Sreenivasaiah said, now extends above hybrid work arrangements to creating workplaces free from unnecessary digital complexity.<\/p>\n<h4>Technology must empower people<\/h4>\n<p>As companies embrace artificial intelligence, Sreenivasaiah identified another emerging concern\u2014the rise of \u201cShadow AI,\u201d where employees rely on unauthorized digital tools to bypass inefficient internal systems.<\/p>\n<p>Rather than viewing the practice solely as a technology governance issue, he said organizations should treat it as an indicator that existing workflows are no longer keeping pace with modern work.<\/p>\n<p>Other warning signs include increasing payroll disputes, declining participation in employee feedback programs and managers spending more time on administrative work than coaching their teams.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cArtificial intelligence is only as good as the quality of the data behind it,\u201d he said. \u201cBad data simply produces faster mistakes.\u201d<\/p>\n<h4>Building future-ready workplaces<\/h4>\n<p>In the Philippines, AscentHR helps businesses navigate complex labor regulations and compliance requirements while supporting broader digital transformation initiatives in human resources.
