Ministry of Labour and Employment has issued a corrigendum dated 19<sup>th<\/sup> August 2026, to amend its earlier notification dated 12<sup>th<\/sup> May 2026 concerning the compounding of offences under the Code on Wages, 2019. The corrigendum clarifies the categories of offences that may be compounded by the designated authorities.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Earlier, the notification provided that offences punishable with imprisonment only, or with imprisonment and fine, could be compounded. The revised position clarifies that designated authorities may compound any offence under the Code on Wages, 2019, except offences punishable with imprisonment only, or with imprisonment and fine.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As a result, offences involving imprisonment are expressly excluded from the compounding mechanism, while other eligible offences under the Code may be
